Beginnings and Endings - Elementary Students

Response Stance

Respond to Rudyard Kipling's If.
How did his beginning interest you?
How did the ending resonate with you?

Atwell (2006) states that if a poem were completely original, we would not be able to read it or understand it. Every poem alludes to previous poems and poets. There may also be times when something you see, hear, taste, even smell provides a sudden flashback into your childhood. What mentor texts have inspired you?

How will you bring your own voice and your own vision to your mentor texts?

hi we are writing about if the poem!
If is a great poem it shows how to never doubt yourself, the father was showing his son how to always belive in his self, if something bad happened he would have to build him self back up again, trust the people who you can trust. Love the people who love you!

Rudyard Kipling is a awesome poet
because he cares about his son and
because he wants his son to be
