Observations

Setting The Stage
“So much depends upon” noticing, in other words – upon using our sense to appreciate the details of the world around us. For William Carlos Williams, the quest for meaning begins with noticing. Look around you; notice the physical world. This is where you will find your voice and vision as a poet.

Response Stance
Return to Williams' “Poem” or “Between Walls” and mark the mental images you see in your “mind’s eye”. Describe your mental imagery to your blogging partner.

So, according to Williams, “say it – no ideas but in things” and remember “Perception is the first act of the imagination.” How do these quotes relate to the writing of poetry? Share your response with your blogging partner.
